Snacks—even the word can conger up a hunger. Rapidly growing teens, especially, rely on snacks to get them from one meal to the next. After reading a series of articles about nutrition and healthy snack choices, pupils fill out a report card and grade the snacks available to them on campus and at home. Then generate a list of their top 10 favorite healthy snacks.
- Ask class members to create and share with parents or guardians a shopping list of healthy snacks
- Divide the class into six expert groups, assign each a different article to study, jigsaw the groups, and have experts share what they learned from their reading
- Requires copies of the snack report card computers with internet access
