Comprehensive English Examination: June 2016

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Those in positions of authority don't always have the best interest of their people in mind. As part of a sample assessment question, readers must consider how works of literature they read apply to a quote from Edmund Burke—"The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse"—in a critical essay. In addition to the essay prompt, the assessment, part of a set of standardized tests from different months and years, includes two short response questions and a series of text-based multiple-choice questions.
