Immigration and immigration reform are hot button topics, now more than they have been. The Energy of a Nation curriculum is designed to dispel myths about immigrants, build empathy, and provide up-to-date facts. The 13 lessons in the collection have class members examine root causes and consider long-term solutions, research their immigrant history, role-play a refugee’s journey, engage in dialogues, and consider conditions that would cause them to risk being undocumented. The unit ends with a service-learning project.
