Core Knowledge Kindergarten ELA Skills Curriculum
A series of 10 units make up the Core Knowledge Kindergarten ELA Skills Curriculum. Young scholars participate in hands-on activities, complete worksheets, and take assessments. Lessons within each unit follow a similar pattern, are carefully scaffolded and richly detailed, and offer differentiated instruction for small groups. The units focus on prewriting skills, blending sounds, phonemic awareness, and letter-sound correspondence. As the curriculum set progresses, learners examine four and five-sound words, rhyming words, digraphs, and high-frequency words, and begin reading texts independently. By unit nine, learners read decodable texts and answer comprehension questions. A must-have resource for all kindergarten instructors.
