Enzymes have a need for speed! What happens when they are forced to slow down? A well-rounded lesson plan from the K20 Center examines enzyme activity through role playing and a lab. Biology scholars work in teams and pairs to understand how denaturation affects enzyme activity, as well as the types of enzymes present in the foods we eat.

- Have learners come up with their own ideas for foods that may contain enzymes after they watch the demonstration
- Substitute thick gloves and mittens for the pennies and marbles used in the first part of the activity if you have problems getting the tape to stick to students' hands
