Middle schoolers examine advertising from early to mid twentieth century.  In this advertising techniques lesson plan, students assess the different ways advertisers "sold" the concept of railroad travel.  Middle schoolers examine a variety of advertisements (newspaper and magazine ads, postcard, calendar art, and a travel brochure) to identify tools and techniques used by the industry.
