Instructional Ideas

  • Reserve the computer lab for a few days of practice with and questions about the online testing format
  • Spend time discussing test-taking strategies and the answers

Classroom Considerations

  • Depending on your printing capabilities, it may prove difficult to print the large-print version of the practice test
  • The online version employs some different question and answer formats that are possible in an online testing setup
  • Students can get their results at the end of the online test for the easily graded questions; these are scores, not answers, and can be printed to share with a teacher

Pros

  • Answer keys are provided for both the online and paper tests as is a rubric for the essay questions
  • On the answer keys, the questions are paired with standards so that you can more easily determine which Common Core standards your class has mastered
