Many people, when searching online, will type in what they are looking for without much thought. But what's the next step, if they don't get the desired results? Careful selection of search terms. Your class can develop a sense for choosing appropriate search terms with the instructional activity here. The plan goes along with a provided presentation and video. It focuses on the difference between soft and firm terms as well as the deep web. Make sure you have Internet access so that class members have a chance to try out their queries and discover a topic for further research. An advanced instructional activity, pupils will need some background in search terms before completing these activities.
