Instructional Ideas

  • Keep the word puzzles and vocabulary cards handy for practice and bell work, or for when you have a substitute teacher
  • Laminate the vocabulary cards to extend their life

Classroom Considerations

  • There are some speaker icons in the resource that say to double chick when the lesson is over, but nothing happens when you do so; this does not take away from the tasks
  • Most of the activities listed here would be appropriate for younger pupils; look for the grade levels that are written at the top of the lessons and adapt when necessary
  • There aren't full lesson plans written out for each topic; sometimes there are activity ideas paired with materials instead

Pros

  • Comes with vocabulary cards for each section that could be used as flash cards or in a memory-style game
  • The conversation activities provide scaffolding by starting with a teacher conversation and then moving on to student conversations
  • Includes teacher reference materials about the vocabulary and pronuncation

Cons

  • Some of the graphics and formatting choices are not incredibly sophisticated; however, they get the ideas across
