The Constitutional Rights Foundation presents two lessons about the Electoral College. The first has scholars examine a text that provides background information about the Electoral College. Then class members engage in a role play acting as members of a commission, making recommendations on whether to change the way presidents are elected in the United States and, if so, how. For the second lesson, pupils review the role slavery played in the development of the Electoral College. The richly detailed lessons include all required reading materials, worksheets, and a Civil Conversation Guide.
