Going up and down makes a more exciting ride. Pupils recall what they know about continuity and limits of functions. Working in groups, classmates design a skateboard ramp that meets a given set of criteria, using at least three different function types. They create a cross-sectional view of their plans and write the equations that define the piece-wise function modeling their ramp. Afterwards, each group presents their design to the rest of the class.
