A lot can change in a year! Investigators observe a video of Earth over the course of a year and complete a KWL chart. Astronomers view a second video, participate in a guided discussion, and discuss the rubric for successfully completing a CER chart. Finally, astronomers evaluate evidence from three locations to help complete their CER charts.

Instructional Ideas
- Use a globe and flashlight to demonstrate seasonal change and solar radiation distribution
- Have participants pair-share ideas from their KWL charts
Classroom Considerations
- Assumes background knowledge about Earth's orbit, energy transfer, and basic map reading skills
- Requires a basic understanding of completing a CER, so provide additional support as appropriate
Pros
- Detailed teacher's guide saves valuable planning time
- Rubric clearly outlines criteria for success to learners
Cons
- None
