Use these strategies to connect letter pronunciation, sound, word examples, and recognition, focusing on the letter t. Emerging readers examine the letter and listen to you say the /t/ sound. As you explain how to do it, they try themselves. Can they think of some words that begin with the /t/ sound? Challenge their letter recognition skills with a fast-thinking game; point to letters written on the board one at a time. If it's a t, they make the /t/ sound. For any other letter, they stay silent. The audio function here may not be worth your time; simply say these sounds yourself.
