Reading Rockets: Author Interviews: Brian Selznick

Curated by ACT

Brian Selznick strives for authenticity in his illustrations. For one book, he spent six months in Washington, DC doing research at libraries and museums. For another, he went to London to sketch, photograph, and climb inside the famous dinosaur replicas. For The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Selznick watched old French films, interviewed experts, and traveled to Paris three times. Watch the interview to learn more about him and read a short biography about his life. Includes an interview transcript and a selected list of his books.
