Physics Intro, Kinematics, Graphing

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet
This Physics Intro, Kinematics, Graphing ppt also includes:
  • Physics Intro, Kinematics, Graphing (PPT)
  • Join to access all included materials

Some consider physics the branch of science concerned with using long and complicated formulas to describe how a ball rolls. This presentation, while long, is not complicated, yet it covers rolling, falling, and more. It compares vectors and scalars, mass and weight, distance and displacement, as well as speed and velocity. It also provides examples of kinematic derivations and graphing.

Instructional Ideas

  • Pause the presentation on the practice problems and work them with the class as guided practice to reinforce the concepts

Classroom Considerations

  • Requires prior knowledge of graphing and tangent lines
  • Lecture fits best as an introduction to kinematics
  • The first in a series of 17 related resources

Pros

  • Highlights vocabulary throughout
  • Emphasizes graphing data multiple ways

Cons

  • Does not include many graphics or photos to help maintain interest
