Pbs News Hour Extra: Mental Health and Disasters

Curated by ACT

During and after large disasters such as devastating hurricanes, floods, oil spills that have changed lives, fires, war and other natural and man-made disasters, how does a person cope? How do people deal with severe loss? How do they deal with the on-going stress? Students will learn about how the body reacts and will evaluate and discuss Maslow's Hierarchy of needs that apply to disasters and to situations in their own lives.
