This Introduce Vocabulary: Arthur's New Puppy (Brown) lesson plan also includes:
Learn new words as you read Marc Brown's story, Arthur's New Puppy. This is focused as a vocabulary-in-context activity (though this strategy could be used with any book and set of words). Introduce the new words you will focus on: active, astound, and disappear. Review the word meanings before reading the story aloud, asking pupils to raise their hands when they hear one of the featured words. There are comprehension questions for each of the terms to get scholars making connections to familiar concepts, and visual learners will benefit from the graphic organizers.
