This Function or Not? assessment also includes:
Is it possible for an equation to be a function and not a function at the same time? By completing a short assessment, young mathematicians answer this question. Class members provide an explanation on how an equation represents a function and then explain how the same equation does not represent a function.
- Provide opportunities for the class to determine whether relations are functions
- Lead a discussion about dependent and independent variables
- Expects scholars understand the convention of writing equations
- Includes an answer key
- Rubric provides a description of responses that would qualify for partial credit
