Concepts

drawing lines, circles, pixels, computers, computer science, technology resources

Instructional Ideas

  • Use a drawing program that uses bitmaps, such as Paint, and magnify a line until the pixels are visible
  • Have the pupils record the values they calculate while performing the algorithm

Classroom Considerations

  • Younger classes may not know about negative numbers

Pros

  • Provides an opportunity for pupils to try to draw before giving them an algorithm

Cons

  • The description of Brensenham’s Line Algorithm is confusing due to the fact that "A" and "B" are also the endpoints of the line segment
  • Page formatting is off, with a large portion of white space and graphs running into the text

Common Core
