Students read a fiction and nonfiction accounts about different types of disasters. The class uses iChat AV and iSight camera to interview students in a different part of the country about natural or manmade disasters in their area. Pupils use a K-W-L chart to gather information on what they comprehend about that type of disaster (flood, fire, a volcano, or an earthquake) and to form the topics of inquiry that interest them.
