For this women's history lesson, 11th graders examine excerpts of "An Essay on Slavery and Abolitionism with Reference to the Duty of American Females," and "Letters to Catherine Beecher, in Reply to an Essay on Slavery and Abolitionism." Students discuss the role of women during the century as they analyze the 2 primary sources.
