Who knew there were so many fun educational opportunities featuring pasta? Scholars read a brief informational text about the history of pasta (note that "macaroni" is spelled two different ways, so address this if kids are reading independently). They discuss new vocabulary terms, some of which are defined within the instructional activity. Extend the objective using any of the cross-curricular activities, all of which require different types of uncooked pasta. Kids can use the pasta as math manipulatives, sort different types, create patterns or bar graphs, compare and contrast different types, and create artwork using food coloring. there are also some reading suggestions.
