Close up your unit of study with an examination of one of the guiding or essential questions as it relates to what your class has studied and other research. Class members first write down the question. Then they note down information and examples that help them answer the question, including the location they found the examples in the second column. To put all of this together, they write an extended response using one of the formats listed at the bottom of the page.

Pros

  • Useful for wrapping up a unit and preparing for a more extended writing assignment or project
  • See the materials for a second, similar worksheet that you may wish to use instead of or in addition to this page

Cons

  • There are no instructions for how to complete the longer written response referred to at the bottom of the page, so you'll need to supply additional scaffolding and direction
  • The page is simple; however, this allows for easy adaptation to any text
