Act It Out

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Examine two works of art and use these pieces as inspiration for dialogues. The whole class discusses Renoir's Lunch at the Restaurant Fournaise and Toulouse-Lautrec's At the Moulin Rouge. Then, in groups of either three or ten, pupils come up with and perform scenes that go along with the paintings.

Classroom Considerations
  • You may need to scaffold the plan more fully for younger learners
Pros
  • Combines art analysis and language arts in an interesting way
Cons
  • It will likely be difficult for students to work in groups of ten for the At the Moulin Rouge adaptation
