Geometry Unit 7: Right Triangles

Collector: Ann V.

Six lessons comprise the Geometry Unit 7: Right Triangles unit module. In the first lesson, pupils review the Pythagorean Theorem and determine how to use the converse to determine whether a triangle is right, obtuse, or acute. Next, learners discover the ratio of the sides in a 30-60-90 triangle and find unknown sides in triangles. They also see how the lengths of the sides of a 45-45-90 triangle relate. After learning the definitions of the three basic trigonometric ratios in right triangles, scholars find missing lengths in right triangles based on a known angle and learn how to find an unknown angle in a right triangle by using inverse trigonometric ratios. After watching a short review video covering the materials from the unit, students work on problems involving the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse, special right triangles, trigonometric ratios, and solve multiple application problems. Each of the six resources in the unit module, designed for the flipped classroom, contains a video, teacher reference, practice packets and solutions, and corrective assignments.
