Wisconsin Historical Society: Victor Berger, 1860 1929

Victor Berger was a Wisconsin Socialist elected to both the U.S. House of Representatives and to Congress in the early twentieth century. Berger was a vocal opponent of World War I, which put him into disfavor with the government. Berger pushed for progressive reforms, such as unemployment insurance and public housing.
