Belle Case La Follette was married to Bob La Follette, who was elected to Congress for several terms in the late 1800s. But Belle Case La Follette was very accomplished in her own right. Well educated, a lawyer, a teacher, a journalist and a suffragist, she worked tirelessly to support her husband's causes. She was even encouraged to take his seat in Congress when he died, an offer she declined.
