Instructional Ideas

  • Create a classroom forest mural and have kids add an image of their animal to the mural
  • Create a class book of the illustrations and place in the room library

Classroom Considerations

  • If it is not possible to go outside to observe trees, take digital photos of neighborhood trees and tree creatures and project for kids to observe
  • Preview the area to determine the trees and animals nearby

Pros

  • The provided template asks kids to identify their animal, its special features, and then to draw a picture of the creature in its tree

Cons

  • No attempt is made to provide additional information about the creatures found and observed
