Middle schoolers identify the characteristics of a hero. In this character development and writing instructional activity, students listen to music with a hero theme and discuss the common traits of heroes. Middle schoolers explore individuals and charitable organizations devoted to animal welfare. Students work in groups to research outstanding individuals who have contributed to animal welfare, and create an award to be displayed on a classroom "Wall of Fame".
