Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet
This Water Filtration lesson plan also includes:

As an example of nature's water filtering system, young ecologists conduct an experiment in the lab. They construct a funnel out of a plastic bottle, fill it with specified layers of materials that simulate layers of soil, then run muddy water through the filter. Detailed diagrams and procedures are provided for you as the teacher, and a lab sheet complete with an observation chart and analysis questions are provided for the class. Include this during your lessons on wetlands or aquifers.
