It's amazing how much kids change from the beginning of the year to the end. Create a written account of their growth with a fun instructional activity that involves children recording information about themselves at two points during the school year, including their favorite book and academic subject, as well as their height and the length of their hair.

Instructional Ideas

  • Use this as an icebreaker activity, having students pair up and complete the worksheet with information about their partners
  • After completing the worksheet, have children share one piece of information and one expectation for the school year with the class
  • Connect the activity with the math curriculum, teaching the class about measuring length
  • With the worksheets completed, graph students' heights as a whole-class math activity

Classroom Considerations

  • Depending on the age of your pupils, additional sheets of paper may be required for tracing their hands and feet

Pros

  • Worksheet provides children an opportunity to share about themselves
  • Document includes clear, easy-to-follow directions

Cons

  • None
