The real value of education is highlighted in more than one way on a instructional activity designed to not only add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, but also to address the correlation between higher pay with accomplishing higher levels of education. The chart on the student instructional activity shows the weekly income of four people with varying amounts of education completed. The three follow-up questions ask 5th graders to compare and find the difference between the incomes. Although a lesson plan is not included, the commentary and solutions page gives teachers the relevant information necessary to incorporate the activity in the classroom.
