The real Cleopatra was evidently a very savvy politician. The narrator of this brief National Geographic clip contends that Cleopatra appropriated an important Egyptian festival to portray herself as the goddess, Hathor and Caesar as the god Horus in order to proclaim her son, Caesarion, as her rightful heir even though his father was a Roman.
