Is justice blind? Is love blind? Before beginning The Merchant of Venice, readers decide whether they agree or disagree with statements that encapsulate key elements of the tragic comedy. The class then predicts whether Shakespeare will agree or disagree with the statement. After reading the play, the class revisits the guide and compares their predictions with the events in the drama.  “Fair thoughts and happy hours [will] attend on you” with this exercise which includes teacher's guide as well.
