The Great Depression does not fit into a simplistic narrative. This video introduces learners to the complicated and complex nature of this historical event in the United States with a heavy emphasis on the progression of economic decisions and consequences. The speaker discusses underlying economic conditions prior to crash and consumption fueled by credit, bank failures and a frozen credit system, deflation, massive unemployment, and the role of the federal reserve and foreign tariffs.  Tip: Stop video periodically to further explain concepts and answer questions. Consider having learners design an infographic to illustrate the sequencing of economic events.
