Using the Pat Hutchins book The Doorbell Rang, introduce your learners to division using this simple exercise. They start with either 16, 24, or 32 cookies and consider how many friends they could share this number of cookies with. Note there will be more solutions than just one, so encourage learners to show as many as they can using numbers, words, or pictures (or all three!). They contemplate how they know if they have found all possible solutions.
