The Contemporary World - The HIV/AIDS Pandemic in Africa & Canada's Response

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Students research the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa as an example of a contemporary global issue and will explore the ways in which the disease is being addressed with an emphasis on the Canadian government. For this HIV/AIDS lesson, students work in groups to reseach AIDS-related interventions. Students role-play as a Canadian NGO working in Malawi and design a project to help a village facing the AIDS pandemic.
