Based off of the hit television show NUMB3RS, this lesson introduces students to exponential equations, their graphs, and their application in the real world. The lesson is framed in the context of the number of cell phone users for a given period of time. Using the given data, students will create a scatterplot and then perform exponential regressions to discover the growth factor of cell phone users. The activity concludes with students linearizing the data by using natural logarithms. This lesson is very technology dependent.
