Instructional Ideas

  • Have individuals find the scientific name for five different things living in their home; this could include plants, animals, or even mold
  • Challenge learners to write down the scientific names for five living things they would not want to have in their home, with the most creative answers earning bonus points

Classroom Considerations

  • The estimated duration is a minimum; the lesson may easily last a full week if the class size is large
  • Some of the sheets must be printed in color

Pros

  • Comes with both formative and summative assessments
  • Includes an extension activity and literature connection

Cons

  • Does not address multiple learning styles
