Talking Sticks Literature Circle

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Following the six-step process for a talking sticks literature circle, group members choose a leader for the discussion, summarize the reading, discuss journal entries and questions, set reading goals, and write reflections. I think this approach will engage reluctant learners in small group discussions and temper the overly-eager talkers to balance participation to the discussion. A strong resource for guiding Common Core-oriented collaborative discussion in a variety of contexts.
