Six simple images pull your class into magnets. Most of the pictures show magnetic fields as revealed by iron filings. Concepts are explained in print along the bottom of each slide and include magnetic force, force fields, poles, repelling and attracting actions, Earth's magnetic properties, and how a compass works. Use the slides as a visual aid for your lesson, and then provide magnets for a hands-on activity.

Pros

  • Slides shift slowly, drawing the eye in and holding attention

  • A Test Yourself multiple-choice quiz assesses comprehension

Cons

  • The lack of depth of concepts makes the content more appropriate for younger learners, who, unfortunately may not be ready to read the captions on the slides
