STEMbite: The Physics of Tennis

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Tennis anyone? Several physics concepts can be taught through this sport! Two wave nodes are identified on the tennis racket. An antinode is also pointed out as the sweet spot; the place where the ball should hit it. Finally, the important role that spin plays on the projectile of the ball and how it is created is also explained. This fascinating clip would probably be more useful as an introduction to tennis than as a physics lesson.
