Students observe the PBS film, "New Orleans," to explore such topics as race relations, cultural history, and urbanization. After examining n interactive map displaying the city at various dates in its history, students role-play as visitors to the city and write letters to family members in their preselected states or countries. The instructional activity, which also covers such topics as civics, history, and geography of the city, conclues with a student discussion
