Science Kids: Science Images: Saltasaurus

Curated by ACT

This drawing shows the possible appearance of Saltasaurus, a dinosaur from the late Cretaceous Period (around 70 million years ago). While Saltasaurus was a member of the huge Sauropod family, it was relatively small compared to others such as the Diplodocus and Apatosaurus. It featured small boney plates in its skin that acted as armor, was a herbivore (plant eater) and had an estimated length of a round 12 metres (39 feet).
