Properties of Parallel Lines

Work within a parallel universe. Scholars learn about the relationships of angles when two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal. They see how to find the measurements of all eight angles by knowing the measure of one angle. Using algebraic skills, individuals calculate the measures of angles in figures.

Instructional Ideas
  • Create a postulate/theorem wall with the text of the postulates and theorems from the lesson; continue to add to it as the unit progresses
Classroom Considerations
  • Assumes the class knows how to solve linear and quadratic equations
  • Second lesson in a seven-part unit
Pros
  • Uses colors to highlight different types of angles
  • Shows the steps in solving the algebraic solutions to the problems
Cons
  • None
