Instructional Ideas

  • As you progress through the lesson, have the materials ready for actually demonstrating appropriate first aid
  • Consider beginning by asking class members if they have experienced any of the types of medical emergencies that you will cover in the lesson
  • Print out the outline of your lecture for students to use as guided notes

Classroom Considerations

  • While this tool is an excellent supplement and will be very useful in a secondary health class, it should not serve to replace the instruction of a certified first aid instructor

Pros

  • Includes eight scenarios for practicing assessment steps and administering first aid
  • Very detailed and organized instructional guidelines

Cons

  • None
