A unit on persuasive writing guides elementary learners through the writing process. The first part examines the elements of persuasive writing, including expressing an opinion, connecting ideas, using supporting facts, and writing to the audience. Next, the second part focuses on analyzing various persuasive works, including commercials, slogans, and pictures. Finally, young writers apply these newfound skills and practice crafting persuasive writing essays. The culminating unit has everything and more for helping pupils become better writers. Each section has activities and reproducibles to go with the guide.
