Students research the idea of basic needs, study philanthropists in their community, and think about ways to help others receive basic needs. In this needs and philanthropy lesson, students brainstorm about basic needs. Students use stickers to identify the basic needs in a mock-disaster situation, brainstorm ways to deal with the disaster, and repeat the activity. Students define philanthropy and then research philanthropists in their community.
