Second graders use pedometers to record and graph various activities. Students discuss various activities that can be done during recess and the types of movements that are associated with each activity. They predict which activities require the most activity. Students perform the selected activities and record the number of steps on the pedometer. The number of steps is then used to work with place value, graphing, etc.
