Students examine objects and determine if they are living or nonliving.  In this scientific observation lesson, students collect living and nonliving items from outside, record a drawing of each in their journal, and write a short song or poem about each item.  Then the teacher displays items by zooming a document camera or digital microscope and the students play a game to identify it as living or nonliving.
